Keep your friends close, but your rights closer: Social support and compliance with consent requests
Flash talk, Feb 2025. Expected (online, N = 210) and actual (in-lab, N = 128 pairs) compliance with a phone search request. Imagining a friend online = higher compliance. However, nearly everyone in-person complied (100% alone, 97% friend).
Don’t blame me, fear made me crazy: How fear of crime shapes victim blaming
Poster, Feb 2025. Participants (N = 200) read crime vignettes and rated blame. We find that fear of crime predicts increased blame towards victims. Victim blaming may be a strategy to reduce discomfort for those who see themselves as a potential target.
